Next I wanted to get to the African continent. The nearest coast would have been in Dakar, Senegal directly to east, but I chose somewhat longer leg and headed directly northeast, to Nouadhibou, Mauritania. The morning was cloudy but otherwise the weather was ok.
After half an hour I passed the airport of Sal on another island, watching other planes taking off. As I headed to the ocean the weather cleared a bit and eventually the clouds faded.
Shortly after losing VOR signal from Sal I found the one from Nouadhibou. I took about half an hour after I spotted the African continent ahead to the right. Getting closer to the coast I noticed it was a peninsula, just as I expected.
I landed at the airport on the peninsula but couldn't see much more than desert and a few roads in the vicinity.
